Start your experience with exploring traditional Machiya townhouse. This is a rare chance to see the real townhouse with local host. Learn daily life of Kyoto and their family histories.

Enjoy the tea ceremony by sitting on a chair. No need to sit on the floor! Have fun preparing to take part in the ceremony and learning the various rules.

While experiencing the traditions of the tea ceremony, you can also feel and enjoy with many other aspects of Japanese culture.

You will also experience how to make matcha using traditional tools.

And learn about how Japanese tea farmers make matcha and the nutrition of tea.

Turn right at the Mizuho Bank and mobile shop in the shopping street. If you walk for about 2 minutes, you will see an old Kyoto townhouse with a blue curtain on your right. A guide wearing a kimono will be waiting for you at the entrance of the store.

This was an amazing activities. The ladies were so kind, taking us on a tour of the traditional house, allowing us to pick our kimonos, doing our hairs, providing chocolates and traditional sweets. we were based in Kyoto so it was a train out to the location but couldn't recommend this more. One of the best activities we did. Thank you so much to all the ladies for their consistent efforts to make this such a special memorable activity.

They were very friendly and showed us how to be a guest and a host which involves writing our names on a fan or letter in Calligraphy and how to prepare and drink tea. They also explained the cultural aspects of a tea ceremony including the wordly and spiritual sides of it. My mother also wore a kimono which looked very good on her. Overall, we enjoyed it very much and I would recommend it to everyone.
