We enjoyed our tour with Michael. He did a wonderful job of sharing the history of the region (both historical and modern day). We also appreciated that Michael offered to help with anything we needed while visiting Kyoto. He is very open and easy to talk to. We “clicked” right away and it was as if we were meeting up with an old buddy that we had known since childhood “back home in the neighborhood.” During our tour, we noted that we ran into several of the locals who stopped Michael to say hello and to exchange pleasantries. It is obvious that Michael is well-known and liked in the area. Michael introduced us to several of the locals who were happy to meet us and wanted to know more about who we were and our background. We enjoyed that our time with Michael wasn’t just looking at sites and hearing about the history, but included meeting and talking with the local people. Thanks to Michael for such a great visit and for meeting a new friend.

It was a very nice experience! Taibi our guide was so friendly, well-informed and enthousiastic! We would strongly recommend him! In three hours time he showed us a lot of places, we hadn’t yet seen by ourselves (Nishiki market, Kyoto Station with all its restaurants on the topflours). He also gave us a lot of extra information about places where we wanted to go to later that week. He was also very flexible. He gave our kids some good advice where to go too! Thank you Tabi for the wonderful experience!

The tour with Georgina was fantastic. She was well prepared and patient with our elementary aged kids. She shared a good mix of history and personal experience living in Kyoto. The 2hr pace was great for a family with young kids to get oriented in a new city. She also followed up with more ideas for the rest of our time.
