Our guide Tom was incredible. He was very knowledgeable of the area, of the locations that we visited and had great recommendations for other things to do in Kyoto. This tour is great value for money. The content of the tour is great; the bamboo forest is beautiful and we were provided with a history of bamboo and the forest itself. The temple and garden section was absolutely stunning, it was the most beautiful scenery we have seen in Japan so far (a must for those taking photos, absolutely picturesque). We even had a minor detour to a lesser known shrine that had 0 tourists. Then seeing the monkeys was the perfect end to the tour. We could not recommend this tour enough. There is some walking/mild hiking involved but nothing too strenuous. The star of the show was Tom, our guide. genuinely the best tour guide I've ever had and I've had tours all over the world.
Tom was a fantastic guide! Knowledge, interesting and engaging. He did a great job setting expectations and providing terrific insight culturally and historically. Definitely a 10/10 tour and guide!

Meet by the taxi stand on the north side of the JR "Saga-Arashiyama" station. When getting out of the train at the JR Saga-Arashiyama Station, pass the gates, turn RIGHT, go downstairs, and meet your guide. Look for the guide wearing a red polo shirt, or a jacket, with the company logo on it.
