Overview
Join your hosts Koji and Kaori for a private, traditional cooking lesson and lunch in their modern home in a quiet neighborhood just north of Kyoto’s city center. Enjoy the meal you helped prepare while discussing Japanese cultural history and heritage.
What to Expect
Meet Koji and Kaori at their home where you will be warmly welcomed into their spotless house. After settling in, you will learn to make okonomiyaki, a fun dish to prepare with a group. Together, you will mix a batter, chop the filling, and grill these tasty, savory pancakes. You'll eat the okonomiyaki and other dishes that were prepared in advance along with locally produced sake.

Your meal will include traditional dishes like okonomiyaki (a cabbage pancake filled with seafood and vegetables and topped with savory sauce and other condiments) and side dishes such as dashmaki tamago (rolled egg omelette) or yudofu (tofu hot pot), fresh salad and a bowl of miso soup. Enjoy your delicious meal while learning about centuries of Japanese culinary and cultural tradition from your hosts.
