We were very lucky to have had Stephen as our tour guide today. He was extremely encouraging and informative about each food we tried. I really felt we got an in depth understanding into local cuisine which just made the whole experience even better! Would highly recommend to try and complete the tour on your first day in KL so you will have an idea of the different foods to eat during your stay. And if you end up being lucky enough to have Stephen as your guide…. Well you’re in for a treat! 10/10!

Malaysian cuisine is a complex cultural beast. Thankfully, you can hit the street food tour scene with confidence, by joining our food-obsessed team on our daily 4-hour food feast. Limited to 8 guests, you’ll be led away from the tourist crowds to some of Kuala Lumpur’s best joints, known only to locals.

Along the way, you’ll dive into one of the city’s local eateries to discover the produce and ingredients which go into Malaysian dishes. There's some fine examples of classics such as rendang, nasi lemak and flame-grilled chicken skewers with rich peanut satay. Yet your guide will steer you towards some of KL’s lesser known delights like cooling cendol with durian, banana-leaf grilled mackerel with sambal, and hand stretched rotis with tasty curries.

Our tour with Ian was AMAZING. He was the best guide, knowledgeable, passionate and very down to earth. We started by going through the markets, learning about key ingredients in Malay cuisine, then the eating commenced. The food kept on coming and we loved it. We were able to try so much food and Ian kindly asked everyone if they wanted more (we didn’t as there was so much food). Equally, Ian was conscious of food waste and didn’t over order, which is good. The group was a mixture of couples, friends and solo travellers from across the globe. Everyone got on well and Ian did very well to include everyone. He took his time to really explain the ingredients and history of each dish, which we appreciated. At the end of the tour, Ian offered to take photos for everyone which was such a nice touch. Highly recommend this tour!
