Full description
Discover the wonders of the salt city on a 2.5-hour visit. The tour starts with a descent down the stairs to a depth of 64 meters! The micro-climate of the mine, by the way, has a beneficial impact on visitors who suffer from asthma and allergies. You’ll be led through a number of chambers and see underground lakes, shrines, and salt monuments. The underground labyrinth covers 9 levels at 64 to 327 meters below the surface of the earth. Nearly 2,400 chambers are connected with sidewalks, for a total length of 245km. The mine was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1978. The first tourist trail in Wieliczka was established at the turn of the 19th century. The trail leads through numerous drifts and galleries where evidence of mining activity has been preserved. You’ll also see examples of sacred art and themed compositions relating to the history of the mine and legends surrounding it. Wieliczka is also home to the world's largest mining heritage museum, with a collection of unique pieces of mining equipment reflecting the development of mining techniques from the Middle Ages until today. The tour ends at a level that’s 135 meters below the surface, and you’ll return to the surface by elevator.

Good tour. We did have to wait outside for about 15/20 mins waiting on tour guide but plenty to do Wee gift shop and could get a coffee go to bathroom. Tour guide had excellent English our group was around 20 people. I think if anymore would be difficulties hear guide as no headsets.

very unique experience. Everything is well arranged. The driver was right on time. We were taken to the salt mines in a nice van. The driver stayed with the group until the guide arrived. The guide spoke good English and knew a lot about the salt mine. After the tour of the salt mine, the driver was waiting and brought us back.

We were picked up at the designated place and whisked away on the 25 minute journey in a lovely clean car. The mines themselves are like nothing I've ever encountered or even imagined! The tour guide was full of insights about the rooms as well as life down in the mines. There is ALOT of stairs (all going down) and you cover alot of distance so comfortable shoes are a must! At the end our driver met us and took us back to where we were picked up.
