Full description
This 7-hour excursion to Ojcow National Park begins at 09:00 in the center of Krakow, or at your accommodation in the city center. Your adventure starts in Czajowice, where you’ll find the large limestone cave known as Grota Lokietka. Marvel at the sparkling stalactites and the 2 grand chambers of the famous cave. Hike through the dense woods and among the rocks to the imposing Krakow Gate rock formation. At this point, you’ll be in the center of the park, where the Gothic castle ruins lie waiting to be explored. Next, your bus will take you to Pieskowa Skala, the dramatic limestone cliff with its own, well-preserved castle. Tour this impressive Polish Renaissance property, and stop for photos at the oddly shaped boulder known as Hercules’ Club nearby.

The trip in the Ojcow park started from the nature's beauty Grota Lokieta, followed by a hike downhill to the Gate rock formation. Once in the centre of the park we walked through the Ojcow village to the castle ruins. After a visit to the local museum, the last stop was at the Pieskowa Skala castle (grounds only, no inside). It was nice to get off the beaten path, away from all the crammed tourist attractions. An informative and friendly guide came pick us up at the hotel and we ended up having a private tour as there were no other tourists willing to do this experience on that day. Only negative point, it is advertised as a "full day trip" and you need to read the description to realise it is only meant to last 7 hours, but then in practice after 6 hours we were already back at the hotel so it felt closer to a half day really.

It turned out to be our own private tour due to low season. Our tour guide Jackel was quite in the beginning so we were skeptical but it turned out he's a very friendly guy who shared the Polish side we haven't yet discovered. He went extra miles to get us in the museum tagging along with another school group, and a fun tour to the bat cave. Unfortunately a lot of the attractions were closed due to off peak season but that's another reason to come back to explore this beautiful park and country!

My guide on this trip was truly amazing. She was friendly, fun and energetic, with plenty of interesting knowledge. I was very well looked after (especially when I felt ill during the trip), and the scenery was beautiful. By far my best tour of the holiday!
