My guide Yola was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the castle grounds and its ancient roots and its time capsule nature in profiling the beginnings of Kraków. I learned from the tour how much the castle and the cathedral played an integral part for Krakow's, or indeed Poland's, history. Yola was kind enough to answer our questions from the group.

The castle itself is worth a visit. I would recommend going on a Guided tour otherwise you would find it difficult to know what you were looking at. On this tour you visit the state rooms, the treasury and the armoury. The guide who took us round was very knowledgeable and told you enough without lingering on anything for too long. The tour would be improved by the use of headsets and a microphone for the guide as we were in a large group and she was difficult to hear unless you were standing really close to her. Make sure you do not take back packs or large bags on this tour as you are not allowed to take them inside although there is baggage storage before you go in if you need it.

Interesting tour. Guide very knowledgeable. I would advise going on the tour at off season though. There were many people in the group which meant that it was difficult to see some of the exhibits in the castle and there was little time to return back to see them again once we had left the room. A good tip would be for each person to have audio guide headphones so that the guide can be heard at all times. When other people came into the room we were in they made a noise so the guide could not be heard. Overall, it was good.
