Full description

Learn about a dark period of history with a guided visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and experience the oldest salt mine in the world with a tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine.

Start the visit of Auschwitz at the "Arbeit macht frei" gate. In the museum building, see paintings depicting life in the camp, portraits of some prisoners, and their personal belongings. Learn about Dr. Mengele's experiments, the cruel conditions of life in the camp, and the Death Wall.

Head to Brzezinka’s preserved barracks, railway ramps, and gas chambers, before visiting the salt mine. Climb the several hundred stairs 327 meters underground to see the 287-kilometers of around 20 salt mine chambers.

See sculptures and monuments carved in salt, including the Chapel of St. Kinga with crystal chandeliers made of rock salt which have been dissolved and reconstructed for a clear, glass-like glow. Walk around the underground salt lake, unique wooden structures, and natural rock forms.
