Full description

Step into history with a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Learn about the tragic history of the largest Holocaust concentration camp from your guide. Travel by climate-controlled bus from Krakow, and take a break with a nice boxed lunch during your tour.

Be picked up from the comfort of your accommodation in Krakow and board a comfortable bus for the 1.5-hour trip to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp complex, a historic site that serves as an important Holocaust memorial.

Explore the museum in the outskirts of Oświęcim, approximately 60 kilometers west of Krakow. Upon arrival, meet a local guide who will show you around the site and tell you about its inhuman history.

Stop for a break where you can refuel with a tasty box lunch before continuing your tour.

Find out how Auschwitz-Birkenau has become both a symbol of human suffering and a witness to physical and emotional exhaustion. Hear about how it became the final resting place of millions of people, mostly Jews, that were sentenced to death in hideous gas chambers.

Walk through the gate marked "Arbeit Macht Frei" (work frees) to enter Auschwitz 1, where your guide will show you around the preserved area and introduce the history of the place.

Spend approximately an hour in Birkenau, where the mass killings as part of the Nazi "Final Solution to the Jewish Question" took place. After the visit, you can reflect on the experience during the ride back to Krakow.

The pickup was well organized. The driver was on time. What irritated us was that although we booked the tour in German, the guide only spoke English and Polish. But then we quickly found out that we would be handed over to a German-speaking guide at the destination. We were very lucky as our group was only four people. Other groups were ten or twenty people. Only the promised lunch was not kept.

Well organised tour with comfortable coach, pleasant and helpful guide. Regimented trip round both Auschwitz and Birkenau allows you to see the main elements of the camps. Explanations at each stop by dedicated guide although at times hard to hear as understandable need for quiet reflection. The displays were walked past rapidly as several groups follow each other closely. Despite little time to take it all in, a quite traumatic but very important experience. Time was given at start and end of tours for toilet and refreshment breaks. We arrived an hour early from the trip which lasted 3.5 hours. An unforgettable experience and one probably best done with a similar guided tour.

This is an experience I will never forget. Such a surreal place with so much emotion, a must-see place that everyone should experience. The guide at Auschwitz was really informative and I loved how they provided headphones so everyone could hear clearly what she was saying. The only problem I found was they don’t provide this in Birkenau, so I felt I missed some information out as the guide spoke really quietly. However the tour guide that was on the bus was also great and kept us updated with times of everything and where we had to be next. Highly recommend this tour!
