Full description
Feast your way around Krakow on a half-day food tasting tour, and experience Polish hospitality at its most abundant! Meet your guide on Plac Wolnica (Wolnica Square), in the city’s Kazimierz district. Then, walk around some of the most historic streets, stopping for approximately 10 tastings (enough for a full meal with dessert). Learn that Polish cuisine is much more than pierogi (cheese and potato dumplings, mostly served in English-speaking restaurants) as you sample cold cuts and cheeses, regional puddings, and much more. Visit 4-6 carefully selected establishments, and hear the stories behind them. Discover why the Poles complain about the quality of their bread, why they sometimes long for food produced in the 1970s, and why "fermented" doesn't mean "gone off." Walk off some of the calories along the way, admiring the Baroque and Renaissance sights of Krakow Old Town.
Includes
  • Food tastings at all venues you visit (10 dishes)
  • Water in most venues
  • A shot of Polish vodka
  • A bilingual foodie guide
  • Written summary of the tour and tips on recommended places

Important information

Know before you go

  • The golden rule of Polish hosts is to serve enough food to make a table collapse! Expect enough for a full meal with dessert. You are recommended to eat breakfast, but skip lunch, or you won’t be able to try everything
  • Polish cuisine is based on pork, so if you are vegetarian many dishes served during the tour won't be suitable
  • Please advise of any food allergies so that the menu can be adjusted
  • If the guide responsible for the tour considers a participant to be behaving in a way that is impeding the tour, the participant may be asked to leave
  • Refusal for safety reasons is not grounds for a refund

We ended up being the only two people on the tour and it was brilliant. Our guide was absolutely amazing very knowledgeable we were educated about Polish traditions and the history of their food. There were plenty of stops however if you are interested in going to the farmers market choose any day apart from Sundays. Overall a must to on a visit to Krakow!

Matheus met us on time at the pick up point in the Jewish quarter and not far to go for some traditional street food, which was lush.. along the way he is telling us both local and national history whilst pointing out landmarks and info. The relationship with food was fascinating and so well informed. Next was a gorgeous restaurant in a cellar where we tried 2 traditional soups which were stunning whilst discussing ingredients etc.. a slightly longer walk towards to old town where we went to a more modern but still traditional restaurant where we had aged salted beef, potato pure, garlic broccoli, groats with blue cheese and soda bread.. it was a fantastic sharing plate so you don’t get stuffed but pleasantly full! Next onto a less modern place for cheeses, cold meats and spready food, again wonderfully done and dashed down with a good quality vodka shot and info behind the traditions.. then finally cake shop where we had Pope Jean Paul’s favourite cream cake and homemade ice cream.

This is a wonderful tour. We learned a lot of new things. The best guide. The girl in our group did not know English well, the guide told her everything in Polish. I highly recommend taking this tour. An amazing story about Cracow! Thank you very much to our guide, I will certainly advise my friends!
