All customers are equal; but some are more equal than others! If you fancy yourself as more of a Communist bigwig than an everyday Socialist worker, then this upgraded version of a standard Communism tour of Krakow goes beyond a mere sighsteeing tour of Nowa Huta to include lunch at an old-school Milk Bar canteen. Everything went according to plan. The guide, whose name I'm sorry I forgot, a very very nice guy, made our visit to Nowa Huta very interesting and entertaining as he offered us a lot of information that he told us in a really entertaining way. I think it would have been impossible to get the same benefit if we had not been accompanied by him. On the other hand, note that moving around the neighborhood in the Trabant adds charm to the activity. Good organization and a ten to the guide.

For anyone curious about Communist era life in the town of Nowa Huta, this is a fantastic tour. This tour really engages the senses from the experience of riding in the Trabant car, eating a traditional lunch at a milk bar, and having polish pickles and vodka in the living room of one of the apartments. It's a great way to not only learn about life during that time, but to actually experience it a bit. It's educational, yet fun. We did it as a team event with co-workers.

A great tour and lots of fun

We were picked up on time by our driver in her very noisy Trabant. We then took to the road for our visit to Nova Huta. We got an insight into life there from the 1950s through to the present day as we visited shops, a couple of restaurants and the highlight, a typical communist-era apartment. Along the way we heard about the history of Poland and had a few laughs with our guide. The tour was great fun and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to travellers to Krakow.
