Enjoy a 7 to 8-hour pilgrimage tour from Krakow and visit many religious sights in Poland on this approximately 100 kilometer round trip from Krakow.  You will first visit the Lagiewniki district of Krakow, made famous by Saint Sister Faustina Kowalska who lies in the 19th century Church of St. Joseph. The church has become a pilgrimage destination where people from all over Europe come to pray and visit the St Faustina’s tomb. You will also see Sister Faustina’s Sanctuary, the Shrine of Divine Mercy and the John Paul II Center where his relic lies. You will also visit the UNESCO site of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims where you can see some of the famous Way of the Cross with 42 chapels illustrating the passion of the Christ. You will also visit other noteworthy historical sites including the church and monastery of the Friars Observants, dating back to the 17th century and the reportedly miraculous picture of the Mother of God of Kalwaria which has been there since 1641. Every year on Good Friday there is a cross road with live characters. Finally you will arrive in the town of Wadowice, where Karol Wojtyła (Pope John Paul II) was born. Here you will visit his family house with modern multimedia museum next to the parish church dating back to the 15th century where he was baptized. The order of the tour may change.

Wadowice museum dedicated to Pope a John Paul ll, not to be missed

There were a number of stops en route at churches. The guide was quite informative. My wife was wheelchair bound and found it difficult accessing one church. (The wheelchair had to be folded to get it through the entrance door). That was our only criticism. The main square at Wadowice did not have a very good selection of eateries so next time we will take a flask and sandwich with us. The museum was so well laid out. The tour lasted over one hour and the guide, who was a young polish lady, must be commended on her communication skills. Her spoken English was excellent. She was entertaining, informative and knowledgeable. Her interaction skills were commendable. She even taught us Polish! Well worth going on this trip.

I enjoyed it and learned a lot

I enjoyed the tour a lot. Saint Faustina chapel was great and the basilica there The John paul sanctuary was brilliant too. Perhaps a little intense with both the upper and lower church but it was worth seeing all. Bad weather didn't help. The museum was brilliant and St. John Paul parish too. Our guide whose name I can't remember was excellent. A truly lovely person who was very well informed and kind and thoughtful to our needs. She even bought us pope cake. A wonderful lady thank you soo much.
