Full description
Travel to Auschwitz-Birkenau on a 7-hour trip from Krakow. Visit the largest death camp in human history, and an infamous site of genocide during WWII. Auschwitz-Birkenau is synonymous with the worst atrocities ever committed. The camp was built by the Nazis in 1940 in the suburbs of Oswiecim. The total number of deaths is estimated at over 1.5 million people, representing 28 nationalities. Nearly 90 per cent of those killed were Jews. A visit to the former concentration camp is certain to be memorable because it makes it possible to imagine the scale of the Holocaust. Since 1979 the site has been listed by UNESCO on its Cultural and Natural World Heritage list.

The visit was everything we hoped and expected it would be - interesting, sobering and at times extremely harrowing. Our guide (Monika) was knowledgeable; she kept us moving along but also recognised there were times when we just wanted to stop and contemplate what we were seeing and imagining. We were picked up / returned promptly to our hotel by Maurice, our driver. Some helpful tips: there’s no shade at Birkenau - take a hat / parasol. The surface is a bit uneven in places - wear flat shoes or sandals. There are a few stairs to negotiate in the main camp. All in all, this trip was excellent!

All good, precise punctuality, very professional guide. The only thing that did not go in the right direction was that the agency had not printed my paper ticket and for this I had problems at the entrance, fortunately everything was resolved within 10 minutes but this resulted in the missed tour start ..

Excellent from start to finish. Well organised trip with emails about times etc before the day. We were met by the driver right on time outside our accommodation. The journey was quick to the first location. Our guide was really knowledgeable about the area and spoke through everything. We then went to the second camp and again had the same guide to walk us through. It was a really informative day and interesting to learn about the history. Would highly recommend.
