Martha made our experience so amazing we loved her and it was so so fun! Only thing about the busses: they are hot inside! Bring a fan and water. You can purchase water on the boat as well! Loved the experience definitely recommend!

What an unforgettable day out to Nisyros and its volcano crater! The trip was perfectly organized, starting with a smooth coach ride from our hotel to the ferry, which took us to Nisyros, followed by another coach to the crater, and then the reverse journey -all running like clockwork and right on schedule. Upon arriving at Nisyros, we had ample time to explore the charming island, including a visit to the serene monastery. The recommended restaurant was a highlight, serving an incredible lunch with a standout special: zucchini flowers stuffed with Nisyros cheese, which was an absolute delight. The crater itself was a fascinating experience! We had about 45 minutes to explore, which felt just right. Be prepared for a very strong smell from the volcanic gases. Our tour guide, Martha, was an absolute gem—knowledgeable, approachable, and always ready to assist with a smile. This trip was a fantastic blend of adventure, culture, and culinary delights, offering incredible value for money

Full description

Depart from the port of Kardamena in Kos and take a 1-hour cruise to the volcanic island of Nisyros. Upon arrival, transfer to a waiting bus that’ll take you on a short drive to the volcano. Listen to an informative guide along the way.
Get information about the volcano and the history of the island. Then, feel the force of the lava rumbling deep beneath your feet as you enter the volcanic crater. See the bubbling mud pools and steam geysers, and imagine that you have landed on the moon.
Return to the port and get the chance to wander around the town of Mandraki. After a short walk through the narrow streets of blue and white painted houses, visit the monastery of Panagia Spiliani, considered one of the most beautiful monasteries of the Greek Islands.
Make your way back to town for some free time for lunch (own expense) or do some shopping before boarding the boat back to Kos at 4:00 PM.

Excellent. The guide was great. Fantastic experience to walk over the Volcanic crater. Lovely village in Nisyros. Guided to have lunch in a certain place but we were happier doing our own thing. We did not feel that the 3 hours free time was too long and 30 minutes of it was taken up with the Guide walking us through Mandraki anyway. Loved the boat trip……especially when Zorba the Greek was played!
