It is definitely worth doing this Tour. Some things were different than expected. You will be collected with a Bus from your hotel or from a bus station. Depending on where your hotel is this might be before or after 8 am. The ship starts from Kardamena (not from kos city as expected) at 9:30 am. Mandraki and the Caldera are both very beautiful! Ship will leave Nisyros at 3:30pm and is in Kardamena again at around 4:30pm. So depending on where your hotel is you are looking at maybe a 8h to 10h trip (not 6h). Still worth it in my opinion.

Can't fault this trip. Picked up on time. Nice bus trip across the island with a well informed tour guide who stayed with us all day. Lovely boat trip to Nisyros and tour of volcano followed by time to eat and explore the main village. Great value for money. Highly recommended.

Full description

Climb aboard at Kos for a boat tour to the fascinating volcanic island of Nisyros. Reach the picturesque harbor of the island after about an hour and discover the traditional way of life and authenticity of the island. The bus takes you up a winding road until you reach the largest accessible volcanic crater in Europe. On the way up you will see a rugged landscape with strange trees and shrubs on one side, while you enjoy the magnificent view of the sea and the surrounding islands on the other. Once at the top admire the view of the active volcano crater – four kilometers in diameter – and look out onto a unique lunar landscape. In the afternoon stroll through the narrow streets of the port of Mandraki, enjoy a traditional lunch in one of the many traditional tavernas or visit the famous monastery. Be enchanted by the magic of the island.

Visiting island and volcano - 5 stars. The way the tour is organized - 3 stars. These travelers staying and Kos city keep in mind that whole tour takes 10 hours as people are collected from various place which takes awfully lot of time. Extracting time in boat and bus which remains is 2.5 h free time in Nisyros plus 40 min for volcano. Compare these 10 hours with 3 hours
