Korčula: Hiking Tour of Pelješac Peninsula with Boat Ride

3. Korčula: Hiking Tour of Pelješac Peninsula with Boat Ride

The Pelješac Peninsula seems barely connected to the mainland. Situated in the extreme south of Croatia, surrounded by islands and the sea, it can be easily confused for an island. Or even for a mountain range rising from under the sea. This hiking tour starts with a boat - you’ll cross the channel from Korčula to Kučište, a small village on the Pelješac Peninsula that will surprise you with its big houses. At the end of the village, you’ll start to climb a flight of steep steps between houses and their colourful gardens, then, further on, you’ll come out onto the main road. After a little bit of the asphalt – sorry, there is no other way – you’ll continue on a narrow path that gains height steadily through the arid rocky landscape. The path leads to Bilopolje hamlet, offering magnificent views across to Korčula Town. From here, you’ll follow a wide dirt road to reach the Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of the Angels. If you look backwards – a rugged mountain, if you look forwards – a captivatingly beautiful coastline, and now take a look downwards – woods of pine trees and cypresses… – this all comes together in this hiking tour. The hiking tour continues in the direction of the Church of Our Lady of Carmen. You'll passe vineyards enclosed by dry stone walls… and the last part of this hike includes a smooth descent towards Orebić, a town of sea captains. There, you'll catch a public boat to return to Korčula Town.

What people are saying about Korčula

Boris was a fantastic guide! I recommend going on a kayak trip with him. He even finished the trip with homemade treats. The only thing I would say is that this trip could have been much shorter. We were too exhausted at the end (and I have 2 very fit teenagers ages 15 & 18). The trip ended up being over 5 hours. We thought only about 2.5 hours, so we were not mentally prepared for that long.

Boris was really engaging throughout, explaining the geography, history and culture of the area. The equipment was also good. The small group size - 6 in our case - made it all very personal. We were very pleased all round.

Wonderful experience and absolutely recommendable. Perfect for everyone who is into Kayakin, History and Culture. Boris and Ivka are very likable and thoughtful of the groups individual needs and interests. 6/5!

It is a must do!! Boris and his wife are the real deal. I had so much fun, it was so beautiful and I learned a lot!

One of the best experiences! Highly recommended, excellent guide - MUST DO on Korcula.
