Korčula: Healing Nature Walking Tour With Honey Tasting

1. Korčula: Healing Nature Walking Tour With Honey Tasting

This is a walk through a forest with gorgeous views over the Old Town. You’ll be carried away to an oasis of peace and quiet, you’ll intoxicate yourself with oxygen, and you’ll do something that your health will thank you for. The walk is not demanding, and it will be led by a tourist guide who is a nature enthusiast. First, you’ll walk along the sea leaving the town behind. Then you’ll walk under the shade of pine trees leaving the asphalt behind. And lastly, you will not walk – you’ll just sit on a stone and chat, with the song of cicadas in the background. In the forest, on a hill, you’ll be surprised by the Forteca tower, built at the beginning of the 19th century by the British. A little further on, you’ll discover Naplov, a clearing formely used for collecting rainwater. The 101 step ascent to St. Antony Hill, is lined with cypresses, and will reward you with a beautiful view over Korčula’s archipelago. The icing, or rather the honey on the cake will be meeting a local beekeeper, where you’ll peek into a full beehive, and hear about the sweet curiosities of the bees’ life. Of course, you’ll get to know how honey is made, what propolis is, and who royal jelly is produced for…

Korčula: Hiking Tour of Pelješac Peninsula with Boat Ride

2. Korčula: Hiking Tour of Pelješac Peninsula with Boat Ride

The Pelješac Peninsula seems barely connected to the mainland. Situated in the extreme south of Croatia, surrounded by islands and the sea, it can be easily confused for an island. Or even for a mountain range rising from under the sea. This hiking tour starts with a boat - you’ll cross the channel from Korčula to Kučište, a small village on the Pelješac Peninsula that will surprise you with its big houses. At the end of the village, you’ll start to climb a flight of steep steps between houses and their colourful gardens, then, further on, you’ll come out onto the main road. After a little bit of the asphalt – sorry, there is no other way – you’ll continue on a narrow path that gains height steadily through the arid rocky landscape. The path leads to Bilopolje hamlet, offering magnificent views across to Korčula Town. From here, you’ll follow a wide dirt road to reach the Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of the Angels. If you look backwards – a rugged mountain, if you look forwards – a captivatingly beautiful coastline, and now take a look downwards – woods of pine trees and cypresses… – this all comes together in this hiking tour. The hiking tour continues in the direction of the Church of Our Lady of Carmen. You'll passe vineyards enclosed by dry stone walls… and the last part of this hike includes a smooth descent towards Orebić, a town of sea captains. There, you'll catch a public boat to return to Korčula Town.
