After a full walking tour of the old town, our tour leader will guide you to the Ohrid bazaar, where you can enjoy some free time and have lunch at the local taverns. Continue your scenic drive along the lake's perimeter. Short stop by "Bay of Bones" to learn about the history of the site. Following your yourney by the lake, you will soon encounter the Saint Naum Monastery. As you admire the ancient Byzantine architecture that has stood for a thousand years, you'll proceed to explore the monastery's interior. Inside, you will pay a visit to the central church of the monastery and relish the picturesque view of the lake from this vantage point. For nature enthusiasts, the monastery also houses captivating peacocks, adding to its overall charm and beauty. Re-enter Albania and make a stop at Drilon Park, a serene spot by the Drilon River. This river, flowing gracefully into Lake Ohrid, has created a unique ecosystem, serving as a habitat for many graceful swans. As you return to Tirana, you'll ascend to the lofty heights of Mount Qafe Thana where you will encounter Lin Village. The breathtaking vista of the village and the adjacent lake makes it an ideal spot for capturing memorable photographs and creating cherished memories.

Your day begins with a scenic drive from Tirana/Durres/Golem to Gjirokastra, taking about four hours in total. On the way, we’ll make a short stop to grab a coffee, use the restroom, and stretch our legs before continuing the journey. As we arrive in Gjirokastra—one of Albania’s most beautiful and historic towns—your guide will introduce you to this UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its well-preserved Ottoman architecture and unique stone houses. We'll explore the charming old bazaar, filled with colorful shops, handmade crafts, and perfect spots for photos. Next, we visit the famous Gjirokastra Castle, sitting high above the town with amazing views. During our one-hour visit, you’ll learn about its fascinating history and explore the ancient towers and walls. Afterward, you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, try some traditional Albanian food, and explore the old town on your own if you wish. In the afternoon, we head to the Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër), one of Albania’s most magical natural wonders. This deep spring, surrounded by trees and clear blue water, looks like a giant eye. You’ll have time to walk around, take in the peaceful nature, and maybe dip your feet in the refreshing water, which stays cold all year round! After visiting the Blue Eye, we’ll begin our return trip to Tirana, Durrës, or Golem, ending a day filled with culture, nature, and beautiful views.

The town of Lin is geographically blessed and located on the shore of one of the most stunning lakes in the entire world.It's a perfect start to our adventure. The city of Ohrid and Lake Ohrid have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1980. Lake Ohrid and its surroundings are inhabited by the Illyrian tribe of Enkelej. The lake was named by the Romans as "Lyhnidas" (Lake of Light). We will visit the famous view of the church of Saint John, the church of Saint Nicholas and the Halveti Hayati Teqe mosque. Ohrid became an important center for Orthodox believers during the Byzantine Empire and is famous for its 365 Orthodox churches, said to have one for every day of the year. During the Ottoman Empire the city grew in the hills and surrounding lakeside areas. The houses were built with a very specific architecture that created narrow streets, tunnels and small courtyards in the hilly terrain, making it possible for each house to have a good view of the lake. Today the city is famous for its architecture, churches, castle on top of the city, amphitheater, beautiful view of the lake surrounded by mountains and pearls from the lake. After this unique experience, we return to Tirana.

Why not visit an extra country during your holiday? Until not so long ago, it was impossible to visit Albania because of a strict communistic regime. It was even called the “North Korea” of Europe. However nowadays, the country is liberated, you will have the opportunity to see the differences between the neighbors, North Macedonia and Albania. So, hop on, and trace the visible remains of the dictatorship that ruled Albania. By bus or minivan, you will visit the village of Lin, to experience the true Albanian local way of living. At first you will have the opportunity for a small coffee break. Active yourself with a short walk in this ancient village and optional you will have the opportunity to walk until you explore the ancient roman basilica and the astonishing view around it. We highly recommend to do so! On the way to our next stop, you will visit the bunkers that were built by the communistic regime of Enver Hoxha. This beautiful spot is a perfect place for memorable pictures. Afterwards, the tour will continue to the city of Pogradec. From here on, you will visit the local marketplace, the town park, the boulevard and statues. While walking our guide will provide cultural explanation about the patriarchal and modern differences in the Albanian culture. Before heading back to Ohrid, you will have some free time for lunch and a photo stop will be made at the prehistorical Bay of Bones. Interesting note: While making a whole lap around the lake of Ohrid, be aware how the colors of the water changes while driving.
