Spend a beautiful day at the emerald waters of Königssee in the Berchtesgaden Alps of Bavaria. Departing Munich, you will drive along the most scenic German Alpine road into the marvelous valley of Berchtesgaden. Arrive at Königssee and take a boat ride to the peninsula. As you cruise, listen out for the mysterious echo of Königssee, created by the proximity of the sheer rock walls. You will also see the historic Eagle`s Nest viewpoint, a teahouse that was offered to Hitler on his 50th birthday. Look out too for the so-called Sleeping Witch silhouettes in the mountains. Back on dry land, visit the chapel of St. Bartholoma, dating from 1134 and located at the foot of Germany’s second highest mountain, the 8,900-foot (2,700-meter) high Watzmann. Walk to the final station at Salet, where a footpath leads to Lake Obersee. Enjoy the marvelous views of Germany´s highest waterfall at Röthbachfall. Return to Munich for a hotel drop-off. This magical tour will start on Salzburg's charming Mirabellplatz, and take you over the Staatsbrücke, along the Salzach river past the Baroque old town, and down the Alpenstraße to the former border controls at Marktschellenberg. During the journey you'll be able to see the Königsee, and drive through the enchanting landscape of the Bavarian Alps, on your way to Obersalzberg (around 1000m above sea level.) Today, the location where Hitler had his holiday residence contains nothing but ruins. A road winds up to the place where the Kehlsteinhaus, Hitler's Eagle's Nest, once stood. This personal customizable tour covers Bavaria's mountains, Adolf Hitler's former mountain home, Eagle’s Nest retreat, Nazi bunkers around Berchtesgaden, the King's Lake, and the Salt Mines.  After pickup from your Salzburg hotel, start your morning with a scenic drive, following an off-the-beaten-path route past the meadow where the opening scene of The Sound of Music was filmed. The road leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Berchtesgaden and after a short photo stop here continue to the Obersalzberg Eagle’s Nest bus terminal. Here board a specially equipped mountain bus and experience a breathtaking ride up the four-mile (6.4 kilometers) road, negotiating a 27% incline up to a rocky plateau. Disembark the bus here and walk through the 406 foot (124 meters) tunnel to the original WWII brass elevator up to the Eagle’s Nest. Feel the palpable sense of history as the elevator carries you a further 406 feet (124 meters) through the heart of the Kehlstein mountain and straight into Hitler’s former lair. On arrival, take a fascinating tour of the building and afterward get some free time to enjoy the birdseye views and refreshments. Descend from the Obersalzberg toward the mountain town of Berchtesgaden. See the fortress-like system of underground bunker complexes that were built by the Nazis to be used as air-raid shelters, a military headquarters, and a possible last refuge for the Third Reich leaders. Having explored here, emerge back into the daylight and after a short walk, visit the grounds of Hitler’s now destroyed home, known as the Berghof. Continue to the Königssee (King's Lake) a glacial lake in an Alp-framed valley. After a short photo stop at the lake, we will travel back in time exploring the underground world of a 500-year-old salt mine. Relax on a scenic return drive along the Königssee River to Salzburg, where your tour concludes with a drop off at your accommodation or chosen central location.

Be picked up at your accommodation in Munich and start the scenic journey to Berchtesgaden in a comfortable VW minivan. An early pick-up time, no later than 8:00 AM, is recommended to avoid possible crowds in peak season. Follow the German Alpine road and see views of the Bavarian Alps and lakes. The cities of Berchtesgaden and Salzburg are perfect places to experience the unique Krampus Christmas celebrations. On this 2-night trip with two nights accommodation, enjoy guided tours, visits to Christmas markets, and more. Krampus originates from centuries of Pagan festivals and is by far the most unique Christmas celebration ever. Get the opportunity to experience Krampus parades, Krampus lairs, and the wickedly fun Krampus beatings. To start the trip, take off from Munich to Berchtesgaden where you will stay at the centrally located Hotel AlpinRos. Our tour guide Bridget was amazing!!! Not only was her English amazing but she was an amazing driver we just had enough time at every single place to visit she explain to us the history of sound of music of the city honestly one of the best Tours I’ve ever taken it was like a private tour!
