Day 1:
Our first destination is the busy BBD Flower Market, where we are greeted by vivid colors and fragrant blooms at precisely 8:30 AM. Take an hour to peruse the stalls and take in the vibrant ambiance. We then proceed to the famous Victoria Memorial, a work of architecture that perfectly captures the opulence of the British Raj. Take around two hours to see the magnificent gardens and museum. After that, we head to the peaceful St. John's Church, a haven of peace in the middle of the busy city, where you may spend an hour reflecting and appreciating its historical significance.
We make our way to Park Street, the center of dining and entertainment in Kolkata, around midday. Savor the local specialties while having a relaxing lunch at one of the many restaurants. We spend an hour driving through Dalhousie, taking in the lively streets and architecture from the colonial era, after refueling. The famous Howrah Bridge, an engineering masterpiece that spans the Hooghly River, is our next destination. Take breathtaking pictures and ponder on its beauty for around forty-five minutes.
We travel to the tranquil Birla Temple as the afternoon wears on, providing a break from the bustle of the city for a period of introspection. After an hour of enjoying its beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere, we complete our tour for the day around 4:30 PM.
Day 2:
We start at 8:30 AM and head to the revered Kalighat Kali Temple, where worshippers come to honor the formidable goddess Kali. Take an hour to fully experience this hallowed site's mystical atmosphere. We then travel to the Dakshineshwar Kali Temple, a revered site and a masterwork of Bengali architecture. Give yourself around two hours to savor its subtleties and take in the atmosphere of adoration.
Late in the morning, we reach College Street, known for its intellectual atmosphere and busy bookshops. Spend as much time as you like perusing the literary gems and participating in thought-provoking conversations. This should take about two hours. We then go to the Mother Teresa House, a modest home where the Nobel winner lived and worked to help the underprivileged. Take an hour to consider her humanitarian accomplishments and lasting legacy.
Our last destination of the afternoon is the South Park Street Cemetery, a peaceful haven rich in colonial past. After an hour or so of perusing the tombstones and absorbing the calm ambiance, our tour concludes at 4:30 PM, and you will have a greater appreciation for Kolkata's rich spiritual and cultural tradition.
