Full description
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Ang Thong National Marine Park on this wonderful day trip! On this tour, you will explore caves and tunnels by kayak and snorkel the underwater world in these stunning islands which inspired the book and screenplay The Beach. Before you begin kayaking, your tour guide will give you an introduction on how to maneuver your kayak. The kayaking tour begins at the southern end of the island Ko Mae Ko, eventually reaching the sandy shores of the island. Once ashore, the sightseeing part of the adventure begins with a tour of the Green Lagoon or Emerald Lake, a hidden saltwater in the middle of the island. Back to the boat and time for lunch: a delicious buffet selection of Thai dishes! As you enjoy your lunch, the boat will take you through gorgeous scenery from Ko Mae Ko to the northern end of the Marine Park, with Ko Tai Plao the destination for your second kayaking tour. Your tour guide will take you through natural tunnels, amazing caves and along beautiful rock formations. Last, but definitely not the least, is an opportunity to experience the colorful underwater world by snorkeling around Ko Tai Plao! While enjoying the various activities on the tour, you just might be lucky enough to witness whales, dolphin pods, and monkey troops on the islands. Aside from the scheduled activities, you'll have ample time to relax and just enjoy the scenery or waters around the boat.

We liked it very much. Yes, the "Thailand clocks" tick differently than the Germans and yes, you should delete the snorkeling from the description. No reef so no fish. And to all those who complain: Yes, it is an old boat and yes, the trip to the national park takes 2 hours per tour. So what!? We were glad we could chug back comfortably without the roar of a speed boat motor. We had a lot of fun with Markus and the boys. So in conclusion: flip-flops on, bathing suit underneath, and enjoy instead of whining. Good tour to pass on.

Great trip

The boat is very old but it is very relaxed to drive two hours each. You can eat something, chat or relax on the sundeck. Breakfast was really small but with fresh fruit. The lunch was good and typically Thai. The weather was not so good under water but there were a lot of fish there. The place for snorkeling and canoeing was remote and not crowded with other boats. You also had the choice whether you prefer to go canoeing at the second stop, relaxing on the beach or hiking to a very nice viewpoint. On animals you could see monkeys, lots of fish, whales and wild boars. The ride was really nice! I was picked up from the hotel in heavy rain and thunderstorms. Just before we got to the archipelago it stopped raining and it was dry all the time. In the end the sun even came out and we could relax on the sundeck.

It was a really nice, well organized day trip with a nice team. The crossing takes almost 2 hours, but we were well catered for with a delicious breakfast, fresh fruit and soft drinks. You had time to look at the sea, the surrounding islands and let your mind wander. We particularly liked the marine park and the kayak trip. Sensational! We even saw wild monkeys and capybaras. The highlight! The snorkeling was also very nice and exciting. However, the water is a bit cloudy, which did not affect our good mood. At lunchtime there was a delicious Thai buffet and there was something for everyone. All in all, it was a worthwhile trip that we didn't want to miss.
