ESCRIPTION OF EXCURSION In the morning at 10:00 am from our meating point in Split city center, we will visit the Klis fortress in the immediate vicinity of the city of Split, whose special feature is not only that the Game of Thrones series was filmed there, but that the fortress has a great historical role in preserving Croatian and European cultural, religious and economic traditions. You will learn the history of the Croatian nation while walking through the corridors of this beautiful fortress. Our next stop after the Klis fortress is small village Gata center of the Republic of Poljica, a small state with its own form of democratic governance. We come to this destination around 12:30. Poljica was, in fact, governed by the people, who elected their leader – the great Prince of Poljica – through a public voting process held each year on St. George’s Day in Gata, at the foot of the Gradac hill. The presentation about the Republic of Poljica will be held in the historical museum of the Republic of Poljica in the beautiful surroundings of the old church of St. Cyprian. In addition to the history, the museum employee will also tell you the most famous legend in this area – the legend of the heroine Mili Gojsalić And at the end of this excursion at 14:00 pm we are going to tasting the so-called Croatian pizza – Soparnik in small village call Tugare, 20 min from Split city. This dish represents in its core everything that and who the Dalmatians are – the inhabitants of this region. Soparnik is a traditional dish of this region, the preparation of which is so unique and healthy that it represents an ingangible cultural heritage. Soparnik is baked on an open fire in such a way that the place for baking is heated and Soparnik is sprinkled with ashes. The basic ingredients for Soparnk are: thin dough, onion and garlic, olive oil and Swiss chard. Of course, not a single dish in Dalmatia can be eaten without drinking local wine. This tour end around 15:00 and we go back to Split.
