On the first day you’ll be met at the Zagreb or Zadar airport, bus station, or train station for the transfer to Zvecaj.

In the evening the group will meet on the terrace of the Zeleni Kut (Green Corner) restaurant, overlooking the Mreznica River and its waterfall, for a welcome drink, dinner, and brief orientation to the program. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss the upcoming tour and get to know your guides and fellow travelers.

Accommodation: Hotel in the Mreznica River area
Van ride: 1 hour from Zagreb airport; 1.5 hours from Rijeka airport

Day 2: Risnjak National Park, Hiking (Meals: Breakfast; dinner)
The Risnjak mountain range is named after the lynx, a rare animal that inhabits its woods. It is located in Gorski Kotar, the most mountainous and heavily forested region of the country.

Start the hike from Vilje which will lead towards your goal – Big Risnjak, the highest point of the mountain range. Schlosser’s mountain hut, situated 100m below the peak, is probably one of the most beautiful mountain huts in Croatia. After resting and enjoying the amazing view over the sea, other peaks of Gorski Kotar and even the Alps, you will descend slowly back to Vilje. After hiking, return back to your hotel for dinner in the late afternoon.

Accommodation: Hotel in the Mreznica River area
Van ride: 1.5-2 hours (each way)
Walking: 3-4 hours
Terrain: easy/moderate, well marked paths
Meals: B and D (picnic lunch on your own)

Day 3: North Velebit National Park, Trekking (Meals: Breakfast; dinner)
After breakfast you’ll travel by van to North Velebit National Park, the country's newest national park. It features a richness of karst phenomena, outstanding biodiversity, and exquisitely beautiful nature in a relatively small area.

The Park is crisscrossed with numerous mountaineering trails. The best known of these is the Premužić trail, running through the most scenic and interesting parts of the Park.

From the numerous peaks you’ll have magnificent views of the Adriatic Sea and its islands, and the continental side of the mountain chain. Enjoy a picnic lunch on you own during the walk.

Your accommodation is in Plitvice Lakes National Park, and provided by the families of Korana village, a small romantic place hidden away in a valley by the Korana River. Houses are small, traditional dwellings with simple rooms in an idyllic setting.

The peaceful atmosphere makes the village an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are no pubs, restaurants, shops, schools, or churches. This is just a village as small and wonderful as can be, and an ideal setting for a fairy tale.

Accommodation: Private guest house in Plitvice Lakes National Park
Van ride: 2.5 hours (each way)
Walking: 4-5 hours
Terrain: easy to moderate, well-marked paths

Day 4: Plitvice Lakes National Park, Walking (Meals: Breakfast; dinner)
Today you’ll visit Plitvice Lakes National Park, undoubtedly the most beautiful in Croatia. Start the day walking along the Park’s wooden paths and bridges.

Its exquisite series of 16 emerald green and opal blue travertine lakes, more than 90 waterfalls, and numerous caves led to its listing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lakes are surrounded by beech and pine forests and are home to an abundance of wildlife.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the pure and untouched nature of the Park. Take panoramic boat and train rides back to the starting point.

Later in the afternoon you’ll return to your accommodation in the village just in time to enjoy a quick swim before dinner.

On the fifth day you can be as active or as lazy as you like. You can relax by the river, swim, or even take an optional cycling tour in Plitvice Lakes National Park. Several river, walking, sightseeing, and beach trips are also on offer, in case you are keen to discover more of Croatia’s beauty. Enjoy a picnic lunch on your own.

An optional tour will incur an additional charge of approximately EUR 50.00 per person, payable on the spot, and is dependent on suitable weather conditions. This pricing is based on a minimum of 4 participants.

Van ride: maximum 2 hours

Day 6: Paklenica National Park, Trekking (Meals: Breakfast; dinner)
After saying goodbye to your village hosts the tour continues south to Paklenica National Park, part of the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, and a favorite hiking and climbing destination.

Time permitting, you’ll stop by the narrow canyons of the Zrmanja and Krupa rivers, and at the medieval Krupa Monastery, which is the oldest orthodox monastery in Croatia.

The relatively small area of the Park offers exceptional diversity of geomorphologic phenomena and forms, diverse flora and fauna, and attractive natural landscapes. Locals mostly engage in nomadic stock herding, as can be seen by their mountain shepherd homes.

Hiking is the only way to really get to know Paklenica National Park. There are several wonderful hikes through beech and black pine forests to choose from. The most popular is on the trail leading to Borisov Dom, a mountain hut popular among mountaineers. You’ll have a picnic lunch on your own during the walk.

After descending all the way to the sea, the group heads to Skradin for the evening.

Van ride: 2 hours; 1 hour

Day 7: Krka River National Park, Walking (Meals: Breakfast; dinner)
The last day of the tour takes you to Krka River National Park with its fantastic karst formations and travertine waterfalls. Explore the Park's extensive waterways and learn about its history dating back to late 10th century and the first Croatian kings.

One of the options is a visit to Skradinski Buk waterfall, where the second hydro plant in the world was built, shortly after the one in Niagara Falls. A boat will take you to Visovac Island to see its Franciscan monastery. Enjoy a picnic lunch on your own.
