Full description
There was a time when Babi Yar was just a deep ravine on the outskirts of Kiev. However, occupying German forces changed all that in September 1941 when they ordered 35,000 of Kiev’s Jewish residents to gather their belongings and march to Babi Yar. Thinking they would be transported to another location, they did as they were told and lined up along the ravine where the Nazi firing squads proceeded to execute them. Their bodies were thrown into the ravine below. Throughout the Nazi occupation of Kiev, Babi Yar was used for mass killings. In all, over 100,000 people including partisans and members of the underground, but mostly Jews, were killed there. In 1991, a monument was erected near the site. Afterwards, you will visit the Museum World War II.

    Informative and much more

Babiy Yar is a park with monuments that could be viewed alone. But then one would have no explanations, because most monuments, if labeled, only in Cyrillic script, which one can not read as average Europeans. Therefore, it was good to have a guide with you. She was really nice! We also gained insight into the Ukrainian / Russian relationship through them, especially in the past. Since you get a different angle. We would never have done that without this tour. So alone by the contact to the tour guides, I can only recommend this.
