Kiev is one of the most beautiful European cities. Standing on picturesque banks of the Dnieper River, it attracts millions of tourists from all over the world. It has a long history and lots of fascinating places to visit, including the Museum of History of Ukraine in World War II. This museum is not only an interesting attraction but also a significant historical symbol. The museum was officially opened on the 9th of May 1981. It occupies a territory of 11 hectares and has over 300 thousand exhibits of the World War II period.

The most impressive exposition of the museum is a gorgeous Monument of the Motherland, often called Rodina Mat’. It rises 102 meters high above the city, the slopes of the Dnieper River, green hills and golden doomed temples. The Monument of the Motherland belongs to one of the ten highest in the world and it is visible from the farthest points of the city. An important and unique collection of documents and materials is located in the pedestal of the Rodina Mat’ Monument. Walking along the museum, you will discover new facts that describe the horror of the World War II tragedy. You will feel the spirit of courage and patriotism during this 1.5-hour tour around the somber halls of the museum. And you will be definitely impressed with the scale of the heroic struggles against Nazism during the World War II period.

There are sculptures depicting a heroic defense of Kiev and the difficulties of occupation. Also, you can enjoy the open-air exhibition of military equipment and walk along the alley of hero cities. The monument is also a place where you can admire Kiev.
