Private tour of Chernobyl is so recommended! We had a group of 8 and it was perfect. The guide steered us around in a way that avoided the big tour busses as much as possible, so we mostly had the cool places to ourselves. The guide works at Chernobyl for another job so had great insights. Drawbacks: Driver: He was 10 minutes late to our pickup and managed to make two wrong turns coming back to Kiev after a really long day. Vehicle was older with a broken TV so no film; guide did a good job verbally educating but a film would have been much better. My only issue with our friendly and knowledgable guide was that he wasn't great on the pacing. Too much time with the monuments in the morning, then for the really good stuff in the afternoon we were racing around; he would give us literally 30 seconds to photograph a room and run to the next place. Hurry hurry hurry!!! Not fun, and I ended up taking lousy photos in one place because I was so rushed that I forgot to change my ISO settings.

Seemed strange being taken to an unassuming apartment in a slightly rundown block of apartments but what a lovely session we had. The artist was so friendly and welcoming to her home and helped us understand the basics of her traditional painting craft . We produced a picture each after practicing a while to take home. We left feeling we knew more than when we arrived and had really enjoyed ourselves

Our tour guide, Mykola, was very knowledgeable and engaging. His descriptions of history and the places that we visited took us back in history and helped us to better understand how and why events took place and who the most important people in hisoty were at that time.

Truly historic trip, and Sergei was an excellent guide

Sergei did the legwork in getting us into (and out of) the 30-km and 10-km zone, and had a very informative DVD on Chernobyl during our 2-hour drive from Kiev. He was prompt and pleasant. A truly memorable day out to an unusual site.

Both the driver and the guide were excellent. Margherita in partucular was extremely competent and skilled, with a widespread knowledge of the varoius historical topics and sites. Very much reccomended!
