Full description

Get up close and personal with Thailand's national animal on this tour: The elephant. Learn about elephants from expert mahouts — elephant keepers — while you bathe, scrub, feed, and play with the gentle pachyderms in a clean shallow stream.

Marvel at the elephants' delicate ability to use their long and strong trunks to grab a small banana directly from your hand. Enjoy their playfulness as they toss water onto themselves, and you, as they cool off in the water.

After your elephant visit, stop at the cascading Sai Rung Waterfall in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by lush vegetation and crystal-clear waters. Then, sit back and relax as you're dropped back off at your hotel.

Best of all, choose to join the morning or the afternoon tour, depending on your preferences.

Know before you go

  • The elephants are well treated and healthy
  • Domestic elephants have been with humans (especially in South East Asia) for centuries, they have been used for transportation, working, and entertainment
  • Domestic elephants are born in-house, and are almost impossible to release into the wild for many reasons: They are unable to find (enough) food due to been fed for many generations and a loss of habitat, deforestation, communities, plantations etc., or they are unable to connect to herds in the wild. By involving activities with animals in tourism, the industry is supporting the animals and the owners in a good manner
  • Elephant bathing and feeding is to support the natural behavior of elephants as they do so in the wild, therefore it is not considered a cruelty. The local partner can guarantee their guests a friendly and healthy relationship between the mahouts and their elephants, as they've known them for a long time

It was wonderful trip, our guide Ching was perfect, explained us everything, very knowledgeable and nice person. Our driver was very good too. It was a lifetime experience to get so close to elephants, to feed and to wash them. Because we took our trip during dry season they took us to the turtle center instead of waterfall and it was very nice too. It is so nice to learn how people of Thailand are taking care of their nature. Thank you so much

This is by far the most amazing thing we’ve ever done. The guides were very professional and spoke good English. Getting to be up close with the elephants in this way was just phenomenal. Our guide took plenty of photos and videos for us to treasure too. This trip is worth every penny (AND MORE SO PLEASE TIP!!!)

Was a great experience with a very very friendly, funny and sociable tour guide. The elephants are clearly having fun and are treated well. You can roam freely and there weren't any swarms of tourists (at least when we were there). For us Austrians, who know something like that from home, the waterfall wasn't anything earth-shattering, but the tour through the pampas and some information about land management were very interesting. Recommended!
