After pick-up from accommodation in Vilnius start the tour with Paneriai memorial park, where thousands of Lithuanian Jews were killed. This was an extraordinary tour of three incredible sites—the somber Paneriai Forest where Nazis did such terrible killing of Jews and others and where now many gray monuments commemorate those lost, the fairy tale castle at Trakai built in the middle of a large lake, and the evocative hill forts of Kernave where Bronze Age pagans once defended themselves and where now 21st century people draw spiritual strength during the summer solstice. Our guide was knowledgeable about all three sites and was able to include a good bit of Lithuanian history in explaining the sites and helping them come alive for us—what exactly happened in the Paneriai Forest, the romantic story of how a duke came to build the castle in the lake for his new bride, and pictures that helped us share a little in the modern-day summer solstice celebration. Throughout, he was considerate, prompt, and affable. We enjoyed being with him on our final day in Vilnius and we’re very grateful to him and to Get Your Guide for ma

This was a most fabulous excursion providing history, views, local insight, and excellent value for money. We travelled to Paneriai. This is another harrowing site where genocide took place on a massive scale. Our guide provided all the information without bias, yet making us well aware of the clinical and ruthless atrocities that were committed here. We then went to Trakai where we took a lakeside stroll towards the bridge connecting the islands to the shore. Our guide gave us plenty of time to take photographs, provided us with a guided tour through the castle itself (entry - as advertised - is extra, but very cheap). This is well worth a visit, despite the amount of rebuilding that has taken place over the years. We were given ample time to continue our walk around the outside of the castle and to get some lunch. The local pasties (Kibinai) are delicious and we sampled three flavours. We returned via Kernave, a beautiful UNESCO heritage site. This is an amazing tour. Thank you!

Our tour guide, Cyras, was very nice since the beginning of the tour. He explained everything we saw and took us to many different places. He took us to a place where there was a replica of the houses people used to live in. He explained the history of it very nicely and made sure we understood. He took photos of our family at each of the many different attractions he took us to. He also told us how and where to take good pictures. He took us to a boat tour around the Trakai palace. He made sure we enjoyed our tour.

Places of interest, knowledgeable and pleasant guide. A nice day in Lithuania.

A great trip with loads of history and knowledge provided, thank you Giedrius
