This is a day trip to Lake Kerkini, one of the 10 most valuable wetland habitats in Greece with about 300 species of birds and rare animals. Among the many species, admire the beautiful flamingos and the magnificent buffalos. All these are combined with the wonderful view of Mount Beles and the majestic valley of Serres. You depart to Kerkini Lake by bus at 8:00 AM. You reach the Dam of Kerkini Lake (Lithotopos area) and enjoy bird watching through the lake. Every season of the year hosts different species of birds so the boat ride hides a different surprise each time. The area for horse riding is situated next to the dam and you can enjoy a horse ride as long as the weather permits it.  Next, you have a hot cup of coffee and afterwards you make a stop at the farm, just some kilometers away, wihere the impressive buffalos will walk near to you. Later on, you move a bit further to Vironia village and enjoy your lunch in a traditional Greek tavern. You depart to Thessaloniki at about 2:00 PM taking the perimeter road of the west side of the lake.

We had a private tour with a very competent and friendly guide. Lazerus took us to idyllic places where we could watch cormorants and pelicans. It was a beautiful sight to watch the cows bathing on the farm next door. Many horses graze freely around the lake. Afterwards we visited a buffalo farm. The tour guide also showed us a historic train station. A special highlight was the visit to a beautiful monastery. We got a lot of information about Greek history and learned a lot about the country and its people. A perfect trip.

Good trip for nature lovers. Niko was our guide and he knew how to answer to our questions and shared interesting information with us. We saw pelicans and numerous other birds and horses running wild in the scenary of the lake and mountains behind- amazing view. Trip was comfortable and without rushing anyone.

This day trip was absolutley fantastic! The place was gorgeous and we were able to see a great variety of animals. Our guide Nikolas was very passionate about birds and all the informarmation he was giving us, which made the whole experience even better. We truly raccomend going to Kerkini lake!
