What to Expect
This tour begins in the ancient valley of Kathmandu where we get deep insights into Nepal’s rich culture and tragic but otherwise interesting history. As we visit ancient palaces and world famous heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, we stroll through the ancient markets of Kathmandu & see upfront the traditions & customs of a society that dates back over 800 years in time.

Our trip extends to the serene hill resort of Nagarkot where we witness a stunning radiant sunset as the sun drops to hide its glows between the mountains; we spend a night in the lovely resort & get up at the break of dawn with a cupper coffee & then head down to the tower to see close-up a spectacular sunrise as the sparkling rays of the sun can be seen breaking through the mountains in a myriad of maroon pink colors, a scene never to be forgotten.

Nagarkot is known to be an ideal hideaway for honeymooners who seek that special quietness for a special holiday. We also visit medieval Bhaktapur, either on our way to Nagarkot or on our way back. Ancient Bhaktapur is a wonderful display of Nepal’s golden age of the arts with its unique architecture; built by King Anand Malla in the 9th century, this very old city was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1979. It has remained a symbol of conserved heritage till this day.

At the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, you will find many outstanding examples of exquisite sculpture, woodcarving and pagodas dedicated to different gods and goddesses – the Nyatapol & Dattatreya Temples, Golden Gate, the Palace of 55 windows etc. are some extraordinary sites to view in this ancient tragic city that was once upon a time a kingdom to itself. Our tour concludes in the ancient capital of Kathmandu.

Outline itinerary:

Day 01: arrival in Kathmandu

It’s a great experience as you fly into kathmandu‘s only airport as you get to see a whole string of mountains from the windows of your plane. It’s a thrilling experience as your jet touches the tarmac of the runaway. Our representative will be on standby to pick you up from the airport & escort you to your hotel. Refresh yourself with welcome drinks as you go through registration formalities and check into your rooms. Later in the day our senior guide will brief you on your program. Your first overnight in the valley of the gods.

Day 02:Sightseeing Tour - Boudhanath, Pashupatinath & Bhaktapur /& then we drive down to scenic Nagarkot.

We begin our tour with a visit to Boudhanath, the biggest stupa in Nepal & a central point for Buddhism and Tibetan lifestyles and traditions. The stupa is designed like a huge bowl that represents the Buddhist cosmos. Visitors can be seen turning the prayer wheels as they do the rounds of this Buddhist temple.

We then proceed to the pashupatinath temple that’s considered to be the most sacred site for hindus in Nepal. The temple is dedicated to the god shiva. Pashupatinath is also a central cremation site (aryaghat in Nepali} for hindus where the common people & the kings of Nepal are cremated.

Our next destination is Bhaktapur {the ancient name is Bhadgaon}; this ancient city is a symbol of Nepal’s golden age & visitors are amazed by the sculpture & architecture of the city. The erotica statues of the ancient form of kamasutra or sexual displays of the hindu mythological gods’ shiva & Krishna are a delight to watch. The unique carvings of wood and bronze pagodas are just awesome. The palace of 55 windows is simply amazing.

Towards the early evening we then drive down to Nagarkot in time for a great sunset that’s so wonderful to watch. Overnight in the quiet & pert hill resort of Nagarkot

Day 03:in Nagarkot and return to Kathmandu in the late afternoon

We enjoy an extraordinary sunrise that’s probably similar or even more magnificent than the sunset we witnessed yesterday. We witness upfront a whole string of famous peaks that include the Everest range, Langtang & the Ganesh himal. We set our video cams on overdrive.
