This tour is a hike in the national park of Shivapuri to a Buddhist nunnery where lunch will be served before walking down to Bodnath
What to Expect
The Shivapuri Park is located at the North of Katmandu Valley and is only within 30 minutes drive from the city. Some cleaner and fresher air, so easy to get! Now it’s time for the sporty part: you will be hiking up the hill for 3.5km, with a steady climb of 650meters, following a small road. During the hike, just enjoy the many views over Kathmandu Valley, so you can take breaks for photographs. After a while, you will reach your destination: the Nagi Gumba nunnery, a beautiful Sherpa Buddhist monastery. Time for a well-deserved local lunch, made by the nuns!
After the lunch and a small relaxing time enjoying the panoramic scenery, plus a visit of the monastery if you feel like it, you will hike a little bit more, smoothly, and encounter local cattle and some wildlife.
Last stop of the path: the famous Bodnath stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal. Sit on the roof terrace of a restaurant, take a drink, enjoy!
