Panauti is one of oldest towns in Nepal, with many temples dating back to the 15th Century or earlier. You can admire its many temples, stupas, and statues - plus the added charm of the green paddy fields in the area. You will also go to Namobuddha, with the old Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery - an important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Nepal. Stop at Bhaktapur Durbar Square, located 15 km from Kathmandu, which is a museum of medieval art and architecture with many examples of sculptures, woodcarvings, and colossal pagoda temples consecrated to different gods and goddesses.
