Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)
Greeting you upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu will be a representative from Alpine Club of Himalaya who will provide transportation to the hotel. Rest or stroll around the streets of Thamel, a tourist hub in Kathmandu for some souvenirs.
Enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by the Alpine Club of Himalaya in the evening. Savor traditional Nepalese cuisine as you are introduced to the local food culture. Relax overnight in Kathmandu as you prepare for the exciting journey ahead.
Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek preparation
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on a tour of several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Marvel at these landmarks, some of which are World Heritage Sites.
Visit renowned sites including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath), and Buddhist shrine (Boudhanath) which is one of the largest stupas in the world.
Engage in a pre-trip discussion at noon where you will meet the trek leader and team members. Consult with the knowledgable guide or ask any questions you may have about the trek. Spend the night in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Drive to Dhap, Trek to Japre
Start the day with a lengthy and scenic 9-hour drive from Kathmandu to Dhap. Embark on the trek starting at a ridge line south of Dhap, and take in the dramatic peaks of the Numbur Himal section of the Himalayan Range as you near Sigane.
Follow the trail from Sigane to reach a village called Japre (2920 m/9580 ft), perched above a deep valley with scenic views of Mount Everest and Numbur Himal. Marvel the architecture and history of the gompa and stupa at the place where you will rest your head for the night.
Day 04: Trek to Pikey Base Camp
Ascend the trail after Japre and arrive at a grassy ridge at Bhulbhule. Explore the mysterious nameless lodge and take in majestic views of the Everest range a this spot. After the short rest at Bhulbhule, continue along the trail as it splits to Pikey Peak. Pass some weathered yak houses and a fascinating long mani stone wall. Admire the beautiful forested trail as it contours the hillside below Taklung Danda.
Day 05: Sunrise at Pikey PeakTrek to the village of Loding, located close to the Gaurishankar Conservation Area.
Day 06: Trek from Loding to JunbesiVisit the historic Thubtenchoeling Monastery where nearly 1000 monks and nuns live and worship.
Day 07: Trek from Junbesi to Taksindu
Hit the trail bound for Taksindu and cross the river at the bottom of town then climb through the forest up to Salung. From here there are more views of Mount Everest (8848 m/ 29,028 ft), Chamlang (7319 m/ 2,4012 ft), and Makalu (8481 m/ 27,824 ft). Enjoy even more gorgeous views out across the valley to Chiwong Monastery and down towards Phaplu.
Day 08: Trek from Taksindu to PhapluVisit Chiwong Gompa in the small village town that is below a towering cliff.
Day 09: Flight from Phaplu to Kathmandu
Bid farewell to the mountains before you fly back to Kathmandu.
