What to Expect
Trekking the Himalayas is one of the most popular activities in Nepal, and with three of the world’s highest peaks dominating the skyline, it is not hard to understand why. This 10-day trekking tour will take you through mountain trails surrounded by stunning natural scenery including, of course, spectacular views of Mount Everest.
The local Sherpa communities make trekkers feel welcome to discover the rich history and culture of the region. Your tour guide will be with you every step of your way and will help you make the most of your adventurous trekking experience.
Day 1: Kathmandu
Prior to landing in Tribhuvan International airport at Kathmandu, you could have some excellent views of the snow-capped mountains. Meet with the tour coordinator at the airport upon arrival and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding
After breakfast drive to the domestic airport for your 40-minute flight to Lukla, where the trek will begin. From Lukla (2850 meters), you will start trekking through an exotic village to join the main trail from Churi Kharka in about one hour. The trail follows the east bank of the river Dudha Koshi (River of Milk) and on the way you can enjoy with beautiful terrace fields, the typical slate-roofed houses, souvenirs shops, and views of Kusum Kangaru West Peak (5579 meters). Continue on the trek to reach Phakding (2640 meters). The journey will take about 3 to 4 hours. Overnight stay in Phakding.
Day 3: Phakding – Namche Bazar
The trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 meters) takes about 6 to 7 hours from Phakding. Continue to climb the trail up along with the west bank of river until you reach the village of Benkar. On the way you can enjoy with beautiful valley and Thamserku Mountain (6623 meters), cross the bridge, and follow the trail into Shagarmatha National Park at the village of Jorsale. From Jorsale the trail continues along the east bank of Dudha Koshi to where the foot hills below Namche begin. Follow the steep ascent and cross the suspension bridge to enjoy the view of Mount Everest and continue walking through the conifer forest to reach Namche Bazarr, while enjoying the wonderful views of Rolwaling Himal on the way. Namche Bazarr village is the administrative center of the northern region of the Solu-Khumbu district. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.
Day 4: Namche Bazar –Tenboche
The trek to Tenboche (3967 meters) takes about 6 to 7 hours from Namche Bazaar. The first part of trail descends about 250 meters down to the Dudha Koshi bank and it climbs up about 670 meters to reach Tenboche. On the way you can enjoy with magnificent views of Thamserku, Khantega (6799 meters), Ama Dablam (6812 meters), Lhotse, Mount Everest, and the beautiful valley. The village of Tenboche is famous for its large Monastery and viewing spot. Overnight stay in Tenboche.
Day 5: Tenboche – Khumjung
The trek to Khumjung (3700 meters) takes around 3 to 4 hours. At this magnificent village of the Khumu region you will have the chance to explore the Yeti skull at Khumjung Monastery, visit the school which was built in cooperation with Sir Edmund Hillary, visit the Kunde hospital, and enjoy the stunning views of the snow-capped mountains. Overnight stay at Khumjung.
Day 6: Khumjung – Manjo
Enjoy the scenery on the trek from Khumjung to Manjo.
Day 7: Manjo – Lukla
Trek from Manjo back to Lukla.
Day 8: Lukla – Kathmandu
After breakfast catch the 40-minute flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Arrive at the domestic airport in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 9: Kathmandu
Explore Kathmandu, Nepal’s fascinating capital city.
Day 10: Kathmandu
Departure to airport.
