The Everest Base Camp Excursion for School Students package focuses on a pure action-packed adventure with highlights including Kathmandu, a walk to Everest base camp, white water rafting and a jungle safari. On offer here is a fantastic adventure. This program example aims at schools putting an emphasis on physical outdoor education as a tool for inspiration and motivation for academic achievements.

The Operator will take you on an exhilarating flight to Lukla(2840m) and trek from there to Namhe Bazaar(3446m), an ancient trading hub for yak caravans travelling between Tibet and Nepal. At Namche You will have the opportunity to visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation School in Khumjung, Hillary museum and the Khumjung monastery. You'll catch the Everest vista from the famous Everest View Hotel.

After spending 2 nights in Namche Bazaar you will achieve the first stage of acclimatization and will be able to proceed to Tyngaboche(3860m) and to Dingboche(4260m) for another acclimatization stage before the final trek to the base camp.

Your next goal will be Gorakshep village at the foothill of Kalapatther(5545m) hill, from where you will see the famous view of Mount Everest towering in front of you. During this segment of the trip you can learn and experience the following: Himalayan geography, Sherpa culture, elements of Buddhism, high altitude medicine, trekking experience, remote location experience, interaction with different non-threatening and non-confronting cultures and mountaineering history.
Itinerary Details of Everest base camp School Excursion

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport(1400m) and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Take an exhilarating 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla(2840m) and trek to Phakding(2800m) at a comfortable pace to avoid high altitude complications; it will take about 4 hours.

Day 03: Today You will trek to Namche Bazaar(3446m) at a comfortable pace to preserve energy for tomorrows activities and to avoid high altitude complications, it will be approximately a 7-hour walk.

Day 04: You will start activities very early today, waking up at 5am. After breakfast you will take a 2 hour walk to Everest View Hotel (3800m) for a great vista of Everest; You will also visit the Hillary museum, Sherpa museum and Kumjung Hillary High School. You will stay at Namche Bazar for the second night.

Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tyngboche(3870m) which takes about four hours. You will gain about 430m of elevation but you are facing a steep and long ascent just before Tyngaboche. The walk is very rewarding with magnificent vistas of deep river gullies and major peaks including Everest and Lhotse.

Day 06: Today you trek from Tyangboche to Pheriche (4250m approximately 5 hours walk); you will walk through magnificient rhododendron forest near Deboche, you'll see deep river gullies and cross hanging bridge just before reaching a scenic Pengaboche with stunning views of majestic mount Abla Dablam.

Day 07: You will trek from Pheriche to Lobuche (5018m approximately 4 hours walk). You will face a steep ascent and gain over 750m; You will pass the Everest mountaineers memorial, where you can reflect on climbing stories associated with Everest.

Day 08: Today you will take a rest day in Lobuche.

Day 09: Take an easy but interesting walk through the barren landscape to Gorakshep (5170m approximately 3 hours walk), the last post before the base camp. By now you are above any vegetation. You will pass Pyramid, an Italian Research station; You are very high now and to prevent altitude complication you will keep a comfortable pace and gain only 170m and rest in Gorokshep to preserve energy for hike to Kalapatther and the Everest base camp tomorrow.

Day 10: Hike to the summit of Kalapatther (5545m) towering over Gorokshep for the view of Everest and the base camp from 200m above; from there you descend to Everest base camp(5200m) to explore the base camp and to have a close-up view of Khumbu icefall; after base camp visit you'll trek back to Lobuche(5018m).

Day 11: From Lobuche(5218m) You will take an alternative path to Tyngaboche via Dingboche(4260m approximately 4 hours walk) where you will stay overnight; Dingaboche is a very scenic village and the gateway to a very popular climb at Island Peak.

Day 12: You will trek from Dingboche to Tengboche (3860m approximately 4 hours walk).

Day 13: Today you walk from Tengboche to Manjo(2808m), which takes about six hours.

Day 14: You will walk from Mojo to Lukla (2840m) in about five hours; it is very pleasant walk through colorful Khumbu villages.

Day 15: You will fly from Lukla to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. You will have a free afternoon in Kathmandu.

Day 16: You will have a day in Kathmandu sightseeing at Kapan monastery and significant temples and gompas of Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Swayambhunath. You will have a well deserved farewell dinner.

Day 17: After breakfast You will transfer to the airport for your flight or alternatively you can join another tour.
