What to Expect
Canyoning, Canyoneering, Kloofing or River Tracing; whatever you call it, it is an adventure activity beyond compare. The action of exploring a canyon utilizes a variety of techniques including walking, scrambling, climbing, sliding, jumping, abseiling and swimming.

On this superb 8-day tour of the Marsyangdi Valley in the Himalayas, you will try them all. You will descend steep canyons using rope work and abseils, climb up and down steep hills, and try technical jumps and technical swims.

Already a professional sport in France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, New Zealand and the USA, canyoning is now available in Nepal; and Himaland were one of the pioneers.

They offer exceptional territory for canyoning, with numerous canyons in the mid mountain range of different grades. Some, higher up in the Himalayan foothills, boast world class challenges.

The guided trip - tailor made to suit your personal preferences and fitness level – will give you an alternative perspective on the Himalayas as you play with rocks and water to reach some of the most inaccessible nooks of nature.

Located on part of the world famous Annapurna Circuit trekking trail, you will thrill to clear water cascades from high mountains and experience an amazing adventure in a serene environment.

Enjoy the rich vegetation and scenery of the Annapurna National Park, named after the Annapurna Mountain, one of the 8 mountains in Nepal that are over 8000 meters (26,240 feet) high.

You will use tools and equipment, such as ropes, harnesses, carabineers, figure 8s, safety tethers, helmets and wetsuits. A guide will be with you all the way to show you the techniques and ensure you are safe as you travel.

Part trek and part canyoning, all around will be the misty, exotic landscape of the Himalayas, a fascinating local culture and exquisite local cuisines.

Among the canyons you will explore are Bul Bule, Kabindra Khola, Raindu Khola and Sansapu Khola. Other canyons you can attempt include Syange, Jagat and Cahmje. You will hike from one canyon to the next, with challenging uphill walks.

Lodging will be in teahouses or village homes, bringing you closer to the locals. You will crisscross large and small villages, giving you a unique insight in to mountain life, and encounter some of the trekkers of the Annapurna Circuit to share your adventure experiences as you walk.
