What to Expect
Explore Kathmandu City and its surrounding area on this full-day tour with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Starting at Swoyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), linked to the creation of the Kathmandu Valley from a primordial lake, enjoy breathtaking views over the valley and see the countless monkeys that give it its nickname.

Head to Kathmandu Durbar Square to admire the complex of palaces and temples built between the 12th and 18th centuries. Once the seat of the ancient Malla kings, one of the most intriguing attractions is the 17th-century stone inscription in 15 languages that is set into the wall of the palace.

After lunch, go to Patan City and explore Durbar Square with its huge concentration of stupas and temples. Admire the Golden Gate, Temple of Taleju, and Krishna Mandir Temple, built in the Indian Shikhara style. Discover why the 14th-century Mahabouddha Temple is called the “Temple of a 1,000 Buddhas,” and get great views of the area's carved wooden windows and lively bazaars.

End at Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world. Chronicles indicate the temple's existence prior to 400 A.D, and devotees are often seen taking ritual dips in the holy Bagmati River beside the temple.

The tour ends with a farewell dinner at a typical Nepalese restaurant, complete with cultural performances to complete your immersion into Kathmandu life.
