What people are saying about Kapiti Island
What a great experience. The guides were great - loved their history lesson before we embarked, the safety briefing was on point and not over the top or a token effort and the on-island wildlife chat was enlightening and really enhanced our day. Great crew, great service and I predict we will be back. The island itself is great and we loved our walk to the summit. the track (we went via the Wilkinson track) was well maintained and the timings (2 hrs up, 1.5 hrs back) were generous without being inaccurate.
You have not got time to kayak and walk to the top but you can walk to the bird feeder. A suggestion would be to include a snorkelling option. Not appropriate to ask young females if they "like a shag"!! It would be appropriate to include a Ngati Toa karakia before leaving the shore. It was a great trip.
Enough time to comfortably walk to the top of the island. A bit of a struggle for the properly unfit, but otherwise nothing too difficult. Lots of native birds wandering out on the paths. Generally a forest walk as there is only one single place with a view on the entire island: the very top.
Kapiti Island is an amazing island. The trip over to the island was most enjoyable, and our guide provided us with information of the island and it was easy walking on well maintained tracks. We saw many birds and especially the cheeky kakas and wekas. I thoroughly recommend this trip.
It was our first trip to Kapiti island and we loved the experience. The staff were great, the amount of time there was just right, we loved being in nature and seeing so many of our native birds. Would definitely recommend it!
