The canyon was formed through the erosion of Navajo Sandstone, sculpted by flash flooding and other sub-aerial processes. Here is where your trip starts: -Las Vegas Your tour starts with pick-up from your Strip or Downtown (Freemont Street Area) hotel in Las Vegas. Then you'll hit the road heading to Antelope Canyon. -Antelope Canyon To preserve the natural integrity of Antelope Canyon and ensure visitor safety, access to the canyon is limited to guided tours. The name was inspired by its unusual shape, a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located four miles southwest of Page, AZ, within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The hike to the overlook is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) round-trip over a hardened path. The trail is accessible under the regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. There are two shade structures along the length of the trail, but not at the overlook. There are railings at the edge of the overlook's viewing platform, but not along the trail.

In truth words can't do justice to this tour. It's a long day, but one that you don't want to end. Our driver and guide for the day was Don who was friendly and informative throughout, whilst keeping us to schedule. The long journey was amply broken up with breaks. The first sightseeing is horseshoe bend where the Colorado River doubles back on itself around the canyon. There's a short walk to get there on a comfortable trail and a viewing platform with a fense, or other areas where you can go to the edge of the canyon (not recommended) Next we went to Antelope Canyon where our local guide Brian S took us down to see the rock structures. He showed us the best photo angles and took some picture for us. A great guy and full of passion for the local ecology. After this we had a short lunch break (with several choices of where to eat) then on to see the dam on lake Powell before heading back.

This trip was actually much more interesting than I expected it to be and Deanna was an excellent guide, providing all sorts of background information on the places that we visited and photography hints and tips.

Bernice our Upper Canyon Local tour guide was excellent.. she had the best stories and history of the canyon.. she assisted us with take great pictures and she is the eye of the canyon.

Had to wait for the other couple to reserve the tour, so it was a bit troublesome, but the tour was quite spectacular, and the guide was very professional and kind.

Everything is perfect and we have so much fun. Highly recommended
