When the tourists have returned to their hotels you’ll be heading out on this late afternoon tour of Meteora. Visit a monastery and see other places that only locals know. Marvel at the amazing views and hear about the history and traditions of this special place.

On this unique 4-hour tour you’ll see the thousand-year-old Bandovas hermitages inside caves high up on the rocks and hear the amazing story of one of the most ancient churches in Greece, the Byzantine Church of the Virgin Mary in Kalambaka. The church building was once an ancient temple dedicated to the god Apollo.

Demetris was a wonderful guide that kept us entertained and well taken care of while sharing geological and historical information about the area that was fascinating and important. My favorite stop was the Byzantine church. Wow! And not to be neglected, we stopped plenty of times for majestic scenery and a once in a lifetime sunset. Finally, we stopped at a small family owned restaurant and grocery for a delicious snack/meal and rest break. Highly recommend!
