Full description

Delight in an amazing day out in Abel Tasman National Park that combines sailing along the stunning coastline before embarking on one of New Zealand's great walks. Start your day sailing from Kaiteriteri Beach, soaking up the scenery along the picturesque coastline. Take in the golden beaches, bays, islands, and birdsong, and pass by the iconic Split Apple Rock and the playful New Zealand fur seal colony. As you sail, learn about the history, marine life, flora, and fauna of Abel Tasman from your knowledgeable skipper. Arrive at Anchorage Bay around midday, and enjoy your own packed lunch on the beach or take a swim before starting your self-guided nature walk back to Marahau. During your hike, stroll along sandy beaches via picture-perfect lookouts and through native bush. Admire the beautiful scenery the National Park coastal track has to offer on a self-guided walk that generally takes between 3-4 hours.

Drive to the Abel Tasman National Park Entrance and park in the car park. Look for the Abel Tasman Sailing Adventure van which will pick up from the bus shelter on the edge of the Abel Tasman National Park carpark, The National Park Entrance, Marahau. Pickup time is 8:30 AM.

Know before you go

  • The tour departs on a sailing boat from Kaiteriteri beach. You then do a self-guided walk through the National Park back to a town called Marahau. If you have a car, you must drive to Marahau in the morning and leave it there for the day. Free all-day car parking is available at the track entrance in Marahau. Transfer is offered free of charge from Marahau to Kaiteriteri
  • This tour is not recommended for people with limited mobility
  • The following items are essential to take:

  • Windproof jacket
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Boat shoes that are easily removable
  • Swimwear and towel

Had a wonderful day’s touring including the catamaran and the walk through the park. Claudia who collected us from the Marahau car park and joined us sailing was knowledgeable and friendly. Very much enjoyed listing to the birds on Adele Island and watching the sea lions with pups at play. Our walk out was a bit longer than expected @ 4+ hours but picturesque.

Echt een geweldige belevenis. Alles was perfect geregeld én gecommuniceerd. De beide gidsen maakten dat iedereen zich thuis voelde. Er werd ruim de tijd genomen voor bv zwemmen onderweg en het bekijken en fotograferen van bijzondere plekken. We hadden dit niet willen missen!

Geweldig!!! De bemanning was ook super! Keurig op tijd, goede en leuke uitleg over alles en zó enthousiast! We gingen onderweg zwemmen en de kapitein had nog de meeste lol in duiken/bommetjes maken vanaf de catamaran! 🤩 En we wandeling terug was zó mooi, had ik niet willen missen!
