Because of this close proximity to the Kiruna Airport, many of our guests choose to book this exciting daytrip on the final day of their trip to Abisko, essentially using the tour as an inexpensive and seamless way to enjoy a nice daytrip that takes them in the direction of the city and the airport. You are very welcome to bring your bags with you on this day trip and then catch a bus or taxi directly from the Icehotel to the Kiruna Airport or to another hotel in Kiruna. This strategy works particularly well for clients who fly to Stockholm on one of the afternoon departures from the Kiruna Airport. The winter hotel is constructed during the early winter and thus is usually finished in mid-December. Drive with your snowmobile out along the Torne River and further into the forests. Make your way along scenic places and small trails with your guide. After about 20-35 km of driving, arrive at the cabin for an overnight stay. Have your guide cook your dinner and heat the wood sauna to thaw out a bit during the evening. Dinner will consist of local produce from the village. In the cottage, have your own bedroom, while the kitchen and other facilities are shared. The guide will leave you after dinner during the evening and will return the next morning when he will wake you up and prepare your breakfast at the same time. Of course, there is a very good chance of seeing the northern lights during the evening.
