Full description

Take a comprehensive tour of Johannesburg, Soweto, and the Constitutional Hill Museum. Pass important landmarks and learn about the country's difficult history of Apartheid.

Be picked up from your hotel for a full-day tour of Johannesburg, the Constitutional Hill Museum, and Soweto. Begin your explorations in the heart of bustling Johannesburg, the third-largest city in Africa.

Pass landmark buildings and structures such as the Hillbrow Tower, one of the tallest towers in Africa, the sky-scraping Ponte City, Sentech and Carlton Centre Towers, and the multimillion-rand Nelson Mandela Bridge.

Once a prison and military fort, visit the Constitutional Hill Museum and learn about South Africa's journey to democracy. Be humbled as you hear and see the struggles South Africa endured during its societal transitional phases such as the Apartheid. Leaving the hustle and bustle of central Johannesburg behind, the tour will proceed to historical Soweto, an iconic South African township that experienced many student uprisings and much police brutality during the apartheid era.

Visit the Hector Pieterson Museum and Memorial, and see the house of Nelson Mandela. After an interesting and thought-provoking day head back to your hotel on a comfortable air-conditioned bus.

Our full day tour with James was fantastic! He did such a great job at explaining the history and facts about all of our stops and was entertaining as well. It didn’t feel like an all day event since he made everything enjoyable. All of the places we visited were great with a good amount of time at each stop. We definitely learned a lot and tried to soak it all in. I would highly recommend this tour, especially with James!

This was the highlight of my time in South Africa. Amazing tour which gives you a deep understanding of South Africa's history in a way that is very good to follow. My guide was the best! So knowledgeable, so friendly and tailored the tour to out interests. He never grew tired to answer all questions and shared different perspectives. One could really feel how he sincerely enjoys showing us his country. The way he interacted with everyone on the street showed how sincerely nice he is. I also really loved Soweto and the lunch we had. This is not a tour that extensively walks you though the very deprived areas of Soweto to look at poor people which I appreciated. No need for this sort of tourism. On the contrary, you see a real picture and interact with people.
