Full description
Discover the top 20 attractions in Johannesburg with a 1 or 2 day ticket for the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus. Described as the New York of Africa, take your time exploring the exciting city. On board, you will learn about the history of Johannesburg from the prerecorded audio commentary in 15 languages. Ride the double-decker bus through the city's historic neighborhoods and fascinating attractions, many related to the struggle against apartheid. See the world's biggest man-made forest and learn about why Johannesburg should never have been built where it was. Get on and off as much as you like. Two of the 20th century’s most famous liberation heroes started their legal careers and then their political careers in Johannesburg; Mahatma Gandhi with the Passive Resistance (Satyagraha) movement, and Nelson Mandela with the Defiance Campaign. Trace some of their footsteps between Chancellor House and Gandhi Square in the city center. Join the tour at Rosebank and travel through the city's leafy suburbs to Constitution Hill. 10/10 the best way to see this amazing city. I cannot recommend it high enough! I was expecting inefficiency and delays (as this is SA) but the bus was very reliable and on-time. The bus was also very clean and the staff were amazingly friendly! Don't try to do all the stops. Rather, pick the few that you'd most like to see and spend some time exploring them thoroughly. (Constitution Hill is a must, allow plenty of time to see this historical site.) Spend the rest of the time on the bus seeing the sites and hearing the history of the city through the awesome audio guide.

We had a great Red Line hop-on hop-off tour through Johannesburg and Soweto. We were lucky as the weather was perfect (23 degrees Celsius). The only challenge we faced was the fact that our Uber driver didn't know where the bus stop at Constitution Hill was located, so it took him 15 minutes more to find the stop. Once we were on the bus, we enjoyed the tour. We also took the Green Line (also a red colored bus!) to Rosebank, very convenient as our hotel was located in that area!

A really good and safe way to see the major sights of Johannesburg with a good commentary which provides context to what you are seeing. Easy to hop off and on at interesting sights and guides who escort you to landmarks such as the Carlton Tower and the add on Soweto tour is also well worth doing.
