Around 08:30 AM, your English-speaking guide will meet you at your hotel in Bangkok and will take you, in an air-conditioned car, to visit the legendary Jim Thompson House museum. On arrival, the guide will provide you with some information about the place before entering the house. After entering the traditional house, the Jim Thompson guide will escort you to see different sections inside.
The house consists of a complex of six traditional Thai-style houses, teak structures that were purchased from several owners and brought to the present location from various parts of Thailand. Construction of the Thai house was completed in 1959. Since his disappearance in 1967, little has changed in the home that was the city's most celebrated social center.
After visiting the house, your guide will take you to the Baan Krua Nhua community, located on the bank of the Klong Saen Saeb River. It has been the area of the Cham people since the reign of King Rama I. The Cham people usually work as fisherman and silk weavers.
From this folk wisdom came Jim Thompson, the famous proprietor, fascinated by Thai silk. He supported the silk weaving in this community and bought it into his own company. The brand Jim Thompson was popular all over the world. Nowadays, the people in this community still keep the silk weaving profession. The silk is unique due to its high-quality texture, beautiful color and durability.
You will get to visit the house of Uncle Aood, the last family of the Baan Krua community who still continue the silk business for a living today. Also, you will have an opportunity to buy the quality silk products directly from the original place. At the end of your tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
