What People Are Saying About Jewish Ghetto of Venice
We loved getting to cook with Michela. The class was fun, informative and easy to follow for a beginner. Our meal was fantastic and had so many great flavors. We will definitely use what we learned and try to recreate at home! It was also a great experience to talk with and get to know a local in Venice. We felt so welcomed, and got a few great insider tips for where to go and things to do.
Warning: come hungry! Allessandra, our tour guide, brought us through the old and new Ghetto districts, explaining the origins and changes through history, and stopped at a bakery to pick up a sweet and savory unleavened pastry to start the food part of the tour. We then toured through winding streets and alleys, crossing many bridges in the Cannaregio district, on our giro d'ombra, stopping at 3 bacari to sample wine & cicchetti (don't call them tapas!). Then to a restaurant for wonderful pasta with (of course) more wine. Then on to a favorite gelateria near Campo di Santi Apostoli to end our tour. A delicious blend of food, wine, history and culture, hosted by a great tour guide, Allessandra, who kept us informed and entertained. Highly recommended - a great introduction to a side of Venice we never glimpsed on our first visit. Also a great value!
the guide is a really good storyteller, proud of the jewish district, the venice culture, food and wines with wonderful surprises is recommendable
