The domain was founded in the 15th century by the Adornes family, originating from the Italian city of Genoa. It comprises the Jerusalem Chapel, several almshouses and a mansion.The family chapel was consecrated in 1429 and was inspired by the Church of the holy sepulchre in Jerusalem. The architecture, interior and exceptional relics provide an exceptional illustration of the Adornes family’s great reverence for Jerusalem. Remarkably, the Adornes estate has remained within the family since its foundation. Today, the Count and Countess Maximilien de Limburg stirum, now the seventeenth generation, passionately devote themselves to the preservation of this unique part of the heritage of Bruges. The entire property has an enchanting charm, but the icing on the cake is the beautiful Jetusalem Chapel, which was built in the 15th century by Anselm Adornes and is still owned by the former Genoese merchant family after 600 years.
