Full description

Enjoy a full-day tour from Jerusalem to ancient ruins in the Judean Hills and the shores of the Dead Sea. See the archeological site of Masada and a fortress built by King Herod. Go for a dip at the Dead Sea Mineral Beach and uncover the cave where the dead sea scrolls were found. Visit the Masada National Park ruins which are perched on a high plateau. View the ancient fortified palace of Masada which became a refuge for zealots who took a stand against the Romans, which ended in the mass suicide of the zealots in 73 AD. Follow your guide and ride up on a cable car to 1,300 feet above sea level to the plateau where the immense Masada ruins rest precariously. Look out at extraordinary views of the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert.

Explore the fortress built by King Herod in Masada in around 37 BC. Stroll through the remains of the palaces and see mosaic floors and Roman baths. Uncover the oldest synagogue in Israel and admire remarkable features like the 12 water cisterns that each had a capacity of 140,000 cubic feet. Drive to the lowest point on earth at the Dead Sea Mineral Beach which is located in the Jordan Rift Valley. Experience the high density of the salt in the water as you float with ease on the surface of the aquamarine water.

Take a mud-bath and benefit from the therapeutic qualities of the natural Dead Sea mud before heading to the Qumeran cave, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Return to your accommodation in Jerusalem at the end of your tour.

A trip well worth doing. The coach was comfortable and the driver and tour operator were great, informative and knowledgeable. Just one query - the operator asked us where we wanted to be dropped off and we told him Little House in Rehavia. When we stopped he said that he had organised and paid for a taxi to take us to Little House. We asked the taxi driver to drop us off at Alfasi 35 which is where we were staying and charged us 53 NIS - we are not sure whether the operator had paid him and we paid him again instead of the difference. Just left a bad taste as we had paid 50 NIS from the bus terminal all the way to Alfasi, this seemed excessive.

Must see Masada!

Masada and the ruins of King Herod’s palace are AMAZING! Dorit our tour guide was wonderful. It was a very hot (41 degrees Celsius) day and Dorit went out of her way to ensure we had shade wherever possible, kept drinking water and remained cool. Dorit was positive, very informative and shared lots of interesting facts about Israel beyond just the sites we visited. She was positive and upbeat all day, keeping the group on schedule. Many only disappointment was it felt a bit rushed at Masada - there’s so much to see!

Isac's way

Pro: I really liked Isac - a guide who loves his job. Masada fortress -awsome , The Dead See- beautifull views and noxe experience floating on the water . Not pro's: - too fast, at the Dead Sea only an hour and a half. -drop Off at the end of the tour was made without a guide and the driver didnt "remembered" the drop Off stations. Maybe with a small tip...
