What to Expect
Embark on an exciting full-day tour from your hotel in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem to the heart of the Judean desert.
Begin the tour with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Masada, an ancient fortification atop an isolated rock plateau in the Judean Desert. Explore the rugged, majestic beauty of the fortress and learn about its role in one of the most remarkable stories in Jewish history. Tour its fascinating water cisterns, and take a cable car up to the ruins, sitting precariously on a plateau some 1,300 feet above sea level, to admire the extraordinary views of the Dead Sea and the sprawling Judean Desert.
Continue the tour with a drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to the oasis of Ein Gedi, famous as the location where King David hid from the wrath of King Saul, and converted nowadays into a sanctuary for tropical species in the middle of the Judean desert. Enjoy a 1.5-hour unsupervised walk through the beautiful terrain, because you continue on to the spectacular Qumeran cave, the archeological site where the world-famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
